Questions and Answers on Green Tea and Kina® Green Tea Complex

Question: I would like to know how to apply the green tea directly to the skin, to receive its skin rejuvenating benefits?

Answer: Try dissolving 1 capsule of Green Tea Complex (GTC) in 1 tbsp. organic sesame oil and apply directly to the skin as a lotion.

GTC dissolved in high quality organic vegetable oil could have a wide range of skin benefits. Christina Pirello of Christina Cooks on PBS and author of GLOW, a book on natural beauty, suggests dissolving GTC powder in organic hemp oil for optimal skin care benefits.

Question: My housemate said she heard putting soy milk (or any milk) in green tea significantly reduces the benefits of drinking it. I notice you have quite a lot of research on your web page and am wondering if you know whether this is true.

Thanks for your time, and for putting health-enhancing products out into the world.

Answer: One study suggests putting milk or soymilk in tea can inhibit its benefits. Researchers at the U.S. Department of Agriculture recently found that tea has insulin-enhancing effects in fat cells taken from rats. Tea, when prepared the way we normally consume it, increased insulin activity in these cells more than 15-fold. Whole or skim milk canceled these beneficial effects. Fifty grams of milk diminished the benefits in a cup of tea by 90%. Soymilk and nondairy creamers had similar effects. However, lemon did not diminish the insulin-enhancing effects of tea.

Green Tea Complex is instantly soluble in water. It is not so soluble in soymilk. Green Tea Complex readily dissolves in water (ideally fresh spring water) for a refreshing and healthful drink. Lemon adds extra zest and freshness and, from the research above, seems not to interfere with green tea's healthful benefits.

Question: I'm trying to cut back on acid forming foods in order to create a more alkaline state in my body. Would using green tea help me in any way towards achieving this goal?

Answer: Yes, green tea and Green Tea Complex can help maintain a healthy alkaline balance in the body. They help neutralize the acidic condition that results from eating too much animal protein and refined sugar. An alkaline condition promotes health while an acidic one leads to illness. Our new product, CoralGreen, also promotes a healthful alkaline condition. It can help neutralize excess stomach acid.

Question: I have seen in other ads for green tea that they contain 80% or 97% polyphenols. What percentage of polyphenols does KinaŽ Green Tea Complex contain?

Answer: KinaŽ Green Tea Complex is superior and unique because it is not an extract or standardized. Green Tea Complex is a full complex of whole food green tea. To produce an extract from green tea, harsh chemicals are usually used and become part of the extract. Through a patented method no chemicals are used to make concentrated Green Tea Complex. An extract will have a higher percentage of polyphenols because it doesn't include all the antioxidants, vitamins, and catechins found in an organic complex.

Due to this unique patented process, KinaŽ Green Tea Complex contains all the valuable elements of whole green tea at the highest level, including B-carotene and vitamins A, B, C, and E.

Polyphenols are 10g/100g of the complex. Catechins are 90% of the polyphenols. Of this, EGCg is about 40% of the catechins. This is the highest concentration of polyphenols, catechins, EGCg, and antioxidants in any whole food green tea.

Question: I am very interested in trying your product but I have a question. It seems that you cannot enjoy Green Tea Complex as a warm beverage, only cold. Is that true?

Answer: You can enjoy GTC in hot water but you will lose antioxidant protection. Traditional methods of processing tea destroy valuable antioxidants, as does brewing tea in hot water. GTC is processed in such a way as to retain all the valuable antioxidants in the fresh green leaves. Taking GTC in cool water preserves these valuable nutrients.

Question: I don't drink green tea but I do drink tea which I think of as being in the category of "kukicha." The kind I use is listed under the name "organic loose kukicha tea." The description of the tea sounds like what you describe as "bancha" tea in one of your articles. During the day, I also drink tea from tea bags which are called "twig tea." So I am wondering if this tea fits in your category of "green tea" and if it also has the health benefits of green tea?

Answer: Kukicha (sometimes referred to as "bancha") is a wonderful neutral tea made from the twigs and stems of the tea bush (Camelli sinensis). It is soothing and refreshing served hot especially on a cold winter day. It was traditionally taken at the end of the meal to aid in digestion.

Green tea is processed from the leaves of the tea bush. It contains much more of the beneficial antioxidants found in the tea bush. It has a variety of specific health benefits not found in twig or stem tea. Our product, Green Tea Complex, is even more beneficial than regular green tea as the unique processing method retains virtually 100% of the antioxidants in the tea leaf. Other processing methods result in destruction of these valuable nutrients. Further, Green Tea Complex is mixed in cool or room temperature water. This preserves beneficial antioxidants while boiling or steeping tea removes them.

Question: The green tea abstract (catechin) serves as an antioxidant. How do the catechins in green tea compare to other antioxidants such as vitamins A, C, and E?

Answer: EGCg, or epigallocatechin gallate, is one of the antioxidant compounds--known as catechins--in green tea. Researchers at the University of Kansas estimate the antioxidant power of EGCg to be about 100 times greater than that of vitamin C and 20 times greater than vitamin E in protecting the body's cells from free radical damage. KinaŽ Green Tea Complex has one of the highest concentrations of EGCg of any natural green tea.

Question: I went to your site and could not find the instant tea. I only found the capsules. Why don't you sell the instant tea you talk about in your articles and visits to the restaurant?

Answer: Green Tea Complex (GTC) is the organic green tea powder mentioned in the article. GTC comes both in vegetarian capsules (30 and 90 cap bottles) and a bottle with 70 grams of loose powder. Each capsule contains a 350 mg dose of GTC. Even if you prefer not to take capsules, you can still order GTC in the capsule sizes. Simply open the capsule, pour the powder into cool water, stir to dissolve, and enjoy.

Question: To get the "best" benefits from drinking your green tea product, how many capsules, and how much water should a person drink per day?

Answer: For daily energy and health maintenance, add the contents of one 350 mg capsule (1/3 tsp. powder) of Green Tea Complex (GTC) to approximately 6 ounces of water. For high demanding work, healing, or peak sports performance, do this three times per day, so that your daily intake of GTC equals three 350 mg capsules (or 1 tsp.) dissolved in approximately 18 ounces of water.

Question: Can you compare your product to Green Tea Plus? They claim people also lose weight when drinking their product. Is this true with Green Tea Complex?

Answer: I don't have enough info on Green Tea Plus to compare it with our product. Our product, Green Tea Complex (GTC), is processed from 100% certified organic Japanese green tea. The patented process for making GTC is unique; so that GTC retains 100% of the beneficial nutrients in fresh tea. I doubt other green tea products can match this quality.

PS. Green Tea Complex promotes weight loss in addition to having numerous other health benefits.

Question: I am trying to come off caffeine. I just received my first order of Green Tea Complex. I read that it is 97.5% caffeine free. What does that mean? How much caffeine is in one capsule?

Answer: Depending on the particular batch, KinaŽ Green Tea Complex (GTC) contains between 1% and 2.5% caffeine. One capsule of GTC contains 350 mg of green tea powder, so the caffeine content per capsule would range from 3.5 mg to 8.75 mg--a fractional amount. The caffeine in green tea exists in a bound form, and most is not as available as the caffeine found in coffee and black tea. The tannins in green tea are activated by caffeine, and these counterbalance the effect of caffeine. Enjoy GTC with full confidence: people with caffeine sensitivity report no ill effects from Green Tea Complex.
